Cleft Fencing

Cleft Fencing

Using Cleft Chestnut this rugged and durable style of fencing follows the natural shape and contours of the tree. Beautifully imposing this style of fencing can be adapted to provide a variety of functional designs. The timber is split in a traditional style using axes and wedges. Using this age old method, timber which is split along the grain is much more stronger and more durable than sawn  timber. The Chestnut is sourced locally from a small woodland in the heart of Sherwood Forest. Chestnut for the posts and either Chestnut or Ash for the rails will provide you with a naturally durable fence.

Fencing styles range from one to three rails per bay, cleft chestnut pales can be added as well to create a wide range of designs and styles
