Wattle Hurdles

Wattle Hurdles: Uses

Using coppiced hazel and willow, these traditional fence panels have been used for a variety of different functions over the years, from animal enclosures to walls of houses. The willow is coppiced annually whilst the hazel is cut on a 7 year cycle from sustainably managed ancient woodlands. They are now primarily used in gardens where their strength and functionality come to the fore. Hurdles once in position blend immediately into the landscape and provide a windbreak, support for climbing plants and shade in the garden.

Wattle Hurdle Panels

Hurdle panels are traditionally made in 6’ panels and can be made with the addition of treated wooden battens to provide a contemporary style. Underwood Crafts can supply both willow and hazel hurdles made to measure and patterned to customers individual requirements.
